The Sky is on the Earth – unfolding the archive of Jacques Bourlanges

During this lecture at the Bookstore Foundation, Elena Khurtova and Marie Ilse Bourlanges will disclose to the audience their multiple investigations with the found archive of the enigmatic Jacques Bourlanges. In the period of 1960 to 1980, Jacques Bourlanges elaborated and obsessively tested an intriguing theory of correlation between star constellations and land geography in France, as well as various chemical and engineering research.
Focusing on physical evidences of his work and research, the artists duo is currently developing series of personal interpretations giving contemporary entry points to its mysterious content.

Presented at De Vitrine this summer, the “memory of a fold” is a partition of this ongoing project, with the support of Mondriaan Fonds and Stichting Stokroos.
