Anticipated Decay
Towards a Grand Ruin
On the 24 & 25 April 2014, first and second year students of the department of Inter-Architecture of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie will present at deServiceGarage the final step and outcome of the course – Material Experimentations – in an exhibition curated by Marie Ilse Bourlanges & Elena Khurtova.
The theme of “Anticipated Decay” is chosen to raise a crucial question in the fields of Design and Architecture: what “use” may mean outside the restrictions ordinarily set by function and consumption.
During the exhibition, students will present and demonstrate various approaches on how “use” is in fact more than mere “utility”.
The variety of projects developed by students is captured in a special publication, by graphic design students Miguel Hervás Gómez, Andrada Smaranda & Velislava Dakova, which will be presented during the opening evening.
24-04-2014 Opening 18.00 – late
