2012 Marks the 40th anniversary of the Materiaalfonds voor Beeldende Kunst and Vormgeving (Fine Arts and Design). To celebrate its fortieth birthday, the Materiaalfonds is presenting a unique international program exploring colour and material: THE WEIGHT OF COLOUR.
Two chapters of THE WEIGHT OF COLOUR took place in the spring of 2012. The third and final chapter, The Disappearance of Colour, reflects on historical and current notions of colour in film.
We normally pay close attention to actors and directors, but isn’t it really the colours that make the film? Do specific colours disappear with the current conversion from analogue to digital cinema? With an evening of lectures, presentations, art, food and of course, film we investigate ‘the weight of colour’ in film.
