What are the ambitions and where lie the challenges for clients, architects and builders?<\/p>\n<p>In association with the Amsterdam Environmental Centre (MCA), ARCAM is presenting the results of the MCA study &#8216;Working together on a climate-friendly city&#8217;. This study involved the search for a series of concrete images, interpretations and elaborations that relate directly to the compact, climate-proof city. Experts in design studios (including the city\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s planning department, Waternet and thel offices ARCADIS, Alterra, B+B and SLA), together with a panel of citizens, are drawing up urban plans for the city\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s De Baarsjes district.<br \/>\nAlso on show are the results of a study by Atelier Rijksbouwmeester, which in June 2008 commissioned a fictitious project for a multifunctional building on the Zuidas. Onix, EEA Architects, Architectenbureau Paul de Ruiter, 51N4E and VMX Architects presented their designs and showed that architectural diversity is possible even with high sustainability requirements.<br \/>\nIn addition to the results of the above studies, the exhibition also includes innovative, original and spectacular examples of \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcclimate-friendly construction\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Region.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the opening on Friday 13 March at 17.15, a debate will take place at ARCAM about making ideas on sustainability concrete, in particular in the light of the 2010-2020 Structure Plan that Amsterdam is currently working on.<\/p>\n<p>Debate Working together on a Climate-friendly city<br \/>\nDoors open: 14.00<br \/>\nStart: 14.30<br \/>\nParticipation is free, but please sign up via<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sustainable Amsterdam 14.03.09 &#8211; 23.05.09 Sustainability is today\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s buzzword but what does it really mean?
